The CMP Match Clinic or Centerfire Rifle matches allow people the opportunity to shoot M1 Garand or AR-15 rifles in a structured but fun setting. M1 Garand or AR-15 rifles can be provided or you can bring your own favorite centerfire rifle. All matches are iron sights only.
NRA rifle instructors and accomplished marksmen supervise the matches. The event is conducted in a match format but the competition is secondary to the experience of firing these two iconic military firearms.
The CMP Match Clinic is generally held on the second Saturday of the month starting in May and continuing through October. These start at 9:00AM and are completed by noon. Each match takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending upon the number of shooters on a particular match line.
The cost for each match is $20 for ammunition (.30-06 or .223) and there is no cost if you bring your own ammunition. Minors must have a parent or guardian present. Adherence to NRA Gun Safety Rules is ALWAYS required and a violation of any of the rules may result in the violator being asked to leave the match.
- Matches consist of 35 rounds at 100 yards.
- 5 Sighter Rounds (Not counted for score)
- 10 Rounds Prone
- 10 Rounds Sitting or Kneeling
- 10 Rounds Offhand (Standing)
