CMP – Match Clinic

Please come down and join us on Saturday September 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM – Noon (weather permitting) for our monthly CMP Match Clinic.

These match clinics allow people the opportunity to shoot M1 Garand or AR-15 rifles in a structured but fun setting. M1 Garand or AR-15 rifles can be provided.  If you have your own favorite centerfire rifle please bring it.

The event is conducted in a match format (5 rounds for practice, 10 rounds prone, 10 rounds sitting or kneeling, and 10 rounds standing), but the competition is secondary to the experience of firing these two iconic military firearms.

We will be practicing social distancing and disinfecting club provided rifles between shooters in order to ensure the health and safety of all.

The cost for each match is $20 for ammunition (.30-06 or .223) and there is no cost if you bring your own ammunition. Minors must have a parent or guardian present.

Come down and shoot a piece of history!

Basic Hunter Education Course

MassWildLife continues to offer Basic Hunter Education courses free* of charge.  They have recently begun offering a blended course format, in which students complete the online MA hunter study guide before attending in-person portion.  Several instructors are also members of TRGC and BRC.  If you wish to take this blended format, please check out: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/basic-hunter-education-courses.  There is an upcoming class to be held at BRC on September 18 and 20.  Students MUST complete the online portion BEFORE attending, and students MUST attend both classes in order to compete the course.

Walk-ins will not be allowed for this course.

* Funding for the program is derived from the sale of hunting and sporting licenses, and from federal excise taxes on firearms and archery equipment.

Congrats Anthony Drillio

The Board of Directors and all the TRG members would like to congratulate Anthony Drillio for making the Lowell Sun Sport’s section.  Anthony, Edward Doyle, Jake Metcalfe, Andrew Wong and Keilah McConnell all competed at Bay State Summer Games recently.  The Club is so proud of how these athletes represented the sport of trap, being polite, respectful and safe. Please share this great article with your friends and family: https://www.lowellsun.com/2023/08/11/tewksburys-anthony-drillio-targets-bay-state-summer-games-bronze-in-trap-shooting/

Archery Chairperson Wanted!

The Board of Directors is currently seeking to fill our vacant archery chairperson position. In years past,
the club has had a vibrant archery program with youth programs and hosting competitions. The club
has several archery butts, a raised platform, many 3D targets including deer, a
bear, boars and a turkey.

There are approximately 200 arrows as well as about 25 bows in both adult and youth sizes, including both compound and recurve.

There are also an array of paper targets and learning materials left over from past programs and competitions. All we need is someone to be willing to take the reins! Our archery field is one of our most underutilized club resources and it would be great to see archery thrive again at the club. If you are interested in helping your club with revitalizing this untapped potential, please contact President Jeff Blute (president@TewksburyRodandGun .org) or Vice-President Rich Sorrentino (vicepresident@TewksburyRodandGun.org).
